Week 7 Roundup - Battle for 1st Heats Up

Week 7 was a light week as we had 2 teams away at the Port Lambton tournament that impacted scheduling this week. While the NDBA did not come away with the title, both Welland and Beamsville represented the NDBA proudly with good showings. The Anchors continued their hot streak winning their 4th in a row and 6th in 7 games while the Yellow Jackets topped the Expos in a battle of the Top 2 teams. As we enter Week 8, there are 3 teams separated by 1 point at the top of the standings.

Merritton Alliance 7 – Thorold Anchors 14

The Anchors used a 6 run 3rd inning to burst the game open on their way to their 3rd straight win and clinching the season series against the Alliance. Rookie Aidan Schoneville had a solid performance in relief for the Anchors.

Welland Pioneers 7 – Fort Erie Cannons 10

The Cannons win their second consecutive game by scoring 4 runs in the 6th inning to come from behind against the Pioneers. Nick Weglarz launched his first home run of the season while league leader Tobey Drennan collected another hit while stealing 3 bases.

Thorold Anchors 8 – St. Catharines Cobras 4

Anchors win their 4th straight by defeating the Cobras at George Taylor Field. A 4 run 5th inning ended up being the difference on the night.

In the first battle of the season between the top 2 teams in the standings, the Yellow Jackets emerged victorius after a 5 run 6th inning to bust it open.
