The Thorold Anchors (4-12) kicked off the second half of their home schedule with a 6-1 victory over the Fort Erie Cannons (6-8) on Tuesday night at McMillan Park.

Starter Dan Smith (1-3) picked up his first win of the season leading the squad by throwing a complete game for the Anchors. Smith kept the Cannons off balance all night and went the distance giving up five hits, one run, walking three and striking out three.

Chris Vogin (0-3) took the loss for Fort Erie. He went three and one-third innings, surrendering six runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking three.

Thorold amassed nine hits on Tuesday night. Dylan Dempsey and Max Dobrowolski each collected two hits for the Anchors.

Drew Timlock and Mark Suntz each drove in two runs for Thorold.

Defensively on the evening the Anchors were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. It was the fourth time this season that the team has played a flawless game defensively. Shortstop Dalton Procyshyn had the most chances in the field with seven making several strong throws from deep in the hole to retire Fort Erie batters.

Thorold will be back in action at home at McMillan Park on Tuesday night against the Niagara Falls Expos (5-9). First pitch is scheduled for 7:30pm.
